Taking the first step is always the hardest! Let’s walk and discover a new path together. I have worked with various issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, panic and adjustment to life issues and chronic illness, and caregiver support. I have successfully treated children and teens with a range of emotional and behavioral issues. I have worked on parenting issues, ADHD, attachment concerns, difficulties adjusting and emotional coping difficulties. I have treated PTSD and adult survivors of abuse.
I take a relational and psychodynamic approach to counseling. We will explore together what symptoms you are experiencing and how this is impacting your life, your body and health, and your relationships. We will explore your coping style and work to build on this. We will discover what your values are and what barriers are standing between you and the new way you wish to approach life. We will explore healthy choices that will further your growth and success. My goal is to tailor my interventions to your specific needs.
I have a special interest in working with survivors of trauma and have received additional trainings for PTSD and resiliency. I have a background in the expressive arts and enjoy incorporating this into my practice. I also utilize mindfulness with an understanding of how the mind and body work together on issues incorporating the neuroscientific theory. I believe that the more you know and understand yourself, the better equipped you will be to make your own powerful and lasting changes and to find your path of joy and happiness.
I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna, and self-pay options.
Life can sometimes be very challenging and confusing. It’s hard to ask for help and open up to someone that you don’t know. I believe in creating a safe place for you, where you can be open and honest, knowing that you will be respected and not judged. Creating a good clinician-client relationship is very important to the therapeutic process and something I continually strive to create. I strongly believe in a collaborative approach to therapy where I can help you find your power. Then, together we can create a treatment plan that is tailored to each of your individual goals and needs. I will always encourage you to find your courage and the strength to reach your goals and desired outcomes for therapy.
As an immigrant, I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. I am sensitive to the unique needs of my clients who come from various cultures, and seek to understand each person’s unique perspective. In addition to English, I speak Urdu/Hindi fluently.
As a parent and someone who has experience in working in a pediatric hospital and school settings, I can bring my life and clinical experience to help you and your child. I have treated children with anxiety, social and learning issues and have coached children and parents to improve behavior. I have helped children and adults adjust to illness and loss.
Empathy is the cornerstone of my practice and I take a client-centered and strengths-based approach. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to fit each client’s different and unique situation. I also utilize alternative therapies, such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness is an important skill to reduce anxiety and ground the mind by consciously focusing awareness and attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgment. I invite you to take the next step in your journey to mental health and contentment.
I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna, and self-pay options.
